A Story of real Progress

  1994  Gwalior Hospital and Education Trust established and registered in India. Hospital foundation stone laid.


1997  Hospital construction completed. Equipment sought mostly from UK by donation.






1999  Intensive Care facility starts.
Opthalmic Centre opened.
Special Care Baby Unit opened.
First rural health centre opened
Team at a rural village Orphanage for Homeless Girls and the Orphanage and School for Deaf and Dumb Children adopted



2001  Sunrise School for Children with Special Needs opens on our 1000th Day in July.
Mercy Home --the orphanage for mentally challenged and ill children-- is added to support program.
Kedarpur school for tribal children receives our support services.
Gwalior Health and Education Society is established.
Children at "Roshani" --the society for spastic children-- receive support for physiotherapy and health needs.



2003  Expansion of hospital wing as Hospital for Women completed.
With help from Accenture employees charity grant, new mobile hospital vehicle is built and equipped.
Two volunteer projects alone raise over £ 11,664 --- a �Circle Line� Trek by two Indian students from UCL and an 800 mile Narmada river walk by UK's Michael Binnie.
Dr. B K Sharma is highly commended for Beacon Award and also appointed honorary adviser to American Biographical Institute�s research board.
Gwalior Childrens Hospital charity is selected to be Charity of the Year by Edinburgh Academy, one of the UK�s leading schools.




1996  Gwalior Childrens Hospital Charity established and registered in the United Kingdom.


1998   Out-patients department established in May.
Hospital Reception area First in-patients accepted in October.
Mobile Hospital's first vehicle starts rural services.
Specialised medical camps established.
Madhav Andrasham school and orphanage for blind boys adopted for educational support and health care.



2000   24 hr. emergency ambulance services established.
24 hr. ambulance service Number of rural centres increases to 6, with 18 sub-centres.
Trust moves to support Adhar public school.
Foundation stone for Hospital for Women and maternity unit is laid in November.
Orphanage for Blind Girls adopted to provide educational support and health care.



2002   Children of Mother Teresa's Home for Sick Girls and Abandoned Infants adopted for support and health needs.
Total number of patients treated reaches 157278.
Dr. BK Sharma awarded Honours of the Year Award by Mayor of Walsall in UK.
Field-volunteer total reaches 243, including volnteer experts from UK, USA and UAE who have participated in training local doctors, nurses, paramedics, teachers and students.



The Future...
The new mobile hospital  This year sees the 10th anniversary of the origin of the Trust and sixth anniversary of the start of our hospital facilities. Major advances include the new mobile hospital and the opening of the Hospital for Women wing. Much has been done...but there is much more that needs to be done.
