Neha "I need a sponsor!"
Neha, a cute naughty 8 year old girl since Aug. 09 with us. She is mentally challenged with speech difficulties. She copes well with her life, even though she has no verbal communication. She enjoys being tuckled by every one and she likes to play freely. She is very happy with her family in cottage 3.
Sponsor A Child In India
Your support can change a childs life!
Little breaks a heart faster than a child's smile. It may be a smile of anticipation...a smile of pure joy...a smile of longing ... a smile that says "thank you" (’Dhan’yavada ’ in Hindi ) that means much more than words in any language.
In "Snehalaya" there are more than 63 (the number grows daily) smiling faces. These are the children that have escaped the hard, menial, and monotonous future of living on the streets of India...and have come to a place where they are treated with dignity and all their needs are met.
"Snehalaya", meaning "the home with love" in Hindi, is a care home for disabled children, homeless women and the aged, where they live together as a family in individual cottages, with aims to help make them independent and live with dignity.
It is our aim for Snehalaya to become completely self sufficient. We have drilled bore holes to provide fresh drinking water, cultivated 15 acres of land and we rear dairy cows and poultry to provide food. We are making good progress but we are a long way off from being 100% self-sufficient, with electricity production being our biggest and most costly hurdle.
The Gwalior Children's Charity does not receive any government support from India, despite operating in one of it's poorest and most needy areas. Because of this we rely solely on donations from around the world.
All running costs are met thorugh the kindness of our donors. Nothing is deducted for administration costs with 100% of funds going directly to help the children.

You can be at SW4, London’s premier dance and electronic music festival and help raise funds and awareness for Gwalior Children’s Charity.
What’s Involved?
Gwalior Children’s Charity is working with an events company who are organising volunteers to work the bar areas at SW4 this year and who will make a donation to GCC in exchange for volunteer time. You would be working for the company on behalf of GCC. You would need to complete two shifts of six hours during the festival pulling pints for festival goers.
Previous bar experience is not required, but good communication skills, reliability and industriousness are essential.
If you are interested in applying to be a volunteer click the email link at the bottom of this page for more information. Please note that spaces are limited and priority will be given to people who have previously supported GCC, have bar experience and have applied early.

How does this help Gwalior Childrens Charity?
GCC receives a donation to fund healthcare, food, accommodation, education, love and much more to disabled, abused and orphaned children, women, and the Aged in and around Gwalior (one of the most deprived areas in India) from the events company in exchange for your time volunteering at SW4 music festival.
What do volunteers get out of it?
To have a great time at SW4 for the full 2 days so long as you turn up and do the two bar shifts you’re allocated properly and always arrive on time. You can see acts outside of your shifts, meet other volunteers and party knowing you are raising funds for GCC! The full line up of acts can be found here.
When do I need to be available?
You must be available for the duration of the festival weekend – Saturday 27th August and Sunday 28th of August 2011. You will complete a shift on each day. Please indicate on the application below whether you would like to be on the same shifts as friends who are also applying.
You must make a deposit of £100 which will be refunded after the festival providing you have completed your required shifts. If you do not fulfil your commitment on shifts your deposit may be held.

The Gwalior Children's Charity raises money to help poor and destitute people in Gwalior, India. Although our main focus is on the children of Gwalior, our work also extends to women and the elderly.
Our projects aim to give the children of Gwalior, and where possible their families, independence by providing the skills, education and healthcare required to break their cycle of poverty and live a better life.
New School The school will provide education for residents of Snehalaya with special needs plus 500 children from surrounding villages. This is one of the important services provided free of charge, with the help of GCC supporters.
